North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC)

The North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC), which is managed by the Alaska Safety Alliance, develops and maintains high-quality, standardized health, safety and environmental training courses. These programs are taught by highly qualified and credentialed NSTC Instructors. NSTC training is accepted on the North Slope and industrial sites throughout Alaska.

NSTC was founded in 1997 when BP and ARCO field managers on Alaska’s North Slope signed the NSTC Health, Safety, and Environmental Guidelines. Effective January 1, 1998, the NSTC Unescorted Course became the mandatory, minimum requirement for all North Slope operator companies and contractor personnel. Today, NSTC is a collaborative training effort funded by BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc., ConocoPhillips Alaska Inc., Eni Petroleum Co Inc., ExxonMobil and Hilcorp Alaska LLC, and is supported by their contractor companies.
