Policies & FAQs Home » Alaska Workforce Safety Week » Policies & FAQs February 8–13, 2027 · Statewide Alaska WorkforceSafety Week SAFE. TRAINED. READY. Policies & FAQs Cancellation, no-show and weather policies, plus answers for workers, training providers and sponsors. Cancellation, no-show & weather policy General FAQs Workers & crews Training providers Sponsors Cancellation, No-Show & Weather Policy Seats are limited, and many trainings have a waitlist. These policies keep seats moving to the workers who can use them. They apply to every Alaska Workforce Safety Week registration. Cancelling your registration Plans change. If you can’t attend, please cancel so someone on the waitlist can take your seat. Use the Cancel my registration link in your confirmation or reminder email. We’ll confirm by email once your seat is released. Free trainings: Cancel any time before the training starts. Please cancel at least 2 days ahead when you can, so the next person on the waitlist has time to plan. Discounted (paid) trainings: Cancel 5 or more days before the training for a full refund. Cancellations made less than 5 days before the training are not refunded. Refunds go back to the original card within 5–10 business days. Send someone in your place: You can transfer your seat to a coworker at no charge, up until the training starts. Email info@alaskasafetyalliance.org with the new attendee’s name, email, mobile phone and age. The new attendee must meet the training’s minimum age. No-shows Registering and not attending, without cancelling, keeps another worker from being trained. Seats are held until the training’s scheduled start time. At the start time, the provider may give any empty seat to someone from the waitlist or a walk-in, so instructors can keep to their schedule. Some trainings require full attendance to earn a certificate. Late arrivals may not be admitted or may not receive one. If you miss a paid training without cancelling, the fee is not refunded. If you miss any training without cancelling, ASA may release your other Safety Week registrations that week to the waitlist. Employers registering a crew: the person who completed the registration is responsible for cancelling or transferring seats for crew members who can’t attend. Waitlists and overbooking When a training is full, you can join its waitlist. If a seat opens, the next person on the list gets an email and a text message and has a limited time, stated in the message, to claim it before it’s offered to the next person. Our team may also call you. Each training accepts up to 2 registrations above its listed capacity to allow for no-shows. In the rare case that everyone arrives, the provider will work with ASA to find you a seat in another session or give you a full refund. If a provider cancels a training If a provider has to cancel or reschedule, ASA will email and text every registered attendee as soon as possible and suggest other trainings nearby. For paid trainings, you’ll receive a full refund, or you may move to a rescheduled session if one is offered. Weather, emergencies and travel conditions This is February in Alaska. Your safety comes first. Do not travel in unsafe conditions to attend a safety training. If a training is cancelled because of weather or a local emergency, ASA will send a text message to the mobile number you registered with, and an email, as soon as possible. Paid attendees receive a full refund or a move to a rescheduled session. If you can’t travel safely, cancel with your email link or contact the provider any time before the training starts. You won’t be counted as a no-show, and paid registrations will be fully refunded. Check your texts and email the morning of your training for any updates. Attendees under 18 Attendees under 18 must have a parent or guardian’s consent at registration and must meet the minimum age listed for each training. Some trainings may require a parent or guardian to be reachable by phone during the session. Questions For questions about a specific training, contact the provider listed on the training page. For registration, refund or policy questions, email info@alaskasafetyalliance.org. General FAQs What is Alaska Workforce Safety Week? A statewide week of free and low-cost safety training, February 8–13, 2027. Training providers, vendors and suppliers across Alaska host trainings at their own locations or online, and Alaska Safety Alliance (ASA) handles the promotion and registration in one place. Why does Alaska need a Safety Week? Alaska ranks 3rd in the nation for workplace fatalities: 7.1 deaths per 100,000 full-time workers in 2024, more than double the U.S. rate of 3.3 (Bureau of Labor Statistics, Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries, 2024). Safety Week puts hands-on training where Alaska’s workers already are. Where are trainings held? In communities across Alaska and online. When registration opens, you’ll be able to find trainings by city, date and topic, including a list of virtual trainings you can join from anywhere. Who is Alaska Safety Alliance? Alaska Safety Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to a highly trained Alaska workforce, sufficient to staff Alaska’s industries safely and competitively. ASA owns the Safety Week brand, website, central registration and statewide marketing. Who do I contact with questions? Email info@alaskasafetyalliance.org. For questions about a specific training, contact the provider listed on that training’s page. FAQs for Workers & Crews When does registration open? Public registration opens Monday, December 14, 2026. Trainings are added as providers are approved, so check back often. How much do trainings cost? Many trainings are free. Others are offered at a steep discount. Each listing shows its price, or FREE. Can I register my whole crew at once? Yes. One person can register themselves, other people, or both in a single checkout. Each attendee’s own name and contact information is collected, so everyone gets their own confirmation and reminders. Will I get a certificate? Many trainings offer a certificate. Look for the certificate badge on the listing, which shows the certificate name and who issues it. Some certificates require full attendance. Is there a minimum age? Each training lists its own minimum age, and registration is blocked for anyone younger. Attendees under 18 need a parent or guardian’s consent at registration, and the parent or guardian receives a copy of the confirmation. What should I bring? Each listing includes what to bring, any required PPE, prerequisites, accessibility details and special instructions such as parking and check-in. You’ll also find these in your confirmation and reminder emails. How do virtual trainings work? Virtual trainings are listed with their date and time in Alaska time. The meeting link is private and is sent only to registered attendees in their confirmation and reminder emails. What if a training is full? Join the waitlist. If a seat opens, the next person on the list gets an email and has a limited time to claim it. See the waitlist policy above. Will I get reminders? Yes. You’ll get a confirmation right away and reminder emails before your training, each with the training details and a link to cancel if your plans change. We’ll also text you about waitlist openings and same-day cancellations. Why do you need my mobile number? Every attendee provides a mobile number so we can text you when a waitlist seat opens and if a training is cancelled the same day because of weather or a local emergency. How do I cancel or send someone in my place? Use the Cancel my registration link in your confirmation or reminder email. To transfer your seat to a coworker, email info@alaskasafetyalliance.org with their details. See the cancellation policy above. FAQs for Training Providers Who can host a training? Safety training providers, vendors, suppliers, employers and other organizations with safety expertise, anywhere in Alaska or online. Trainings must be free or offered at a discount during Safety Week. Does it cost anything to host? No. ASA handles statewide promotion, registration and seat management at no cost to you, and ships each host a box of Safety Week swag for attendees. How do I apply, and what’s the deadline? Complete the Host a Training application. Applications close Friday, January 15, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Alaska time. Apply early to get the most promotion. How many trainings can I offer? Up to five on one application. If you’re offering more, submit the application and then email info@alaskasafetyalliance.org to add the rest. What happens after I apply? ASA reviews every application within 2 business days and emails you to approve your trainings, ask for changes, or follow up with questions. Nothing is published until it’s approved. Once approved, your trainings appear on the Safety Week listings and map. What insurance do I need? Providers carry their own Commercial General Liability, Professional Liability and, if you have employees, Workers’ Compensation insurance. You’ll upload a Certificate of Insurance with your application. How do payments work for discounted trainings? Attendees pay through ASA’s website. ASA pays you the registration fees collected for each training after it has been delivered, by check, or by ACH if you provide your direct-deposit information. ASA covers card processing fees and requires a completed IRS Form W-9 before payment. Can I cancel a training? Yes, with at least 3 days’ written notice to ASA, including a paid training that hasn’t reached its minimum number of registrations. Every registered attendee receives a full refund. See the Provider Agreement in the application for details. How will I know who’s coming? ASA emails you a roster 5 days before and again the day before each training. Rosters may run up to 2 over your listed capacity to offset no-shows, and must be kept confidential. What do I need to do after the training? Submit a short attendance report within 5 business days: number attended, walk-ins, no-shows and certificates issued, plus your marked-up roster. The link comes with your final roster email. Can I change my training after it’s approved? Yes. Email info@alaskasafetyalliance.org with the change and we’ll update your listing. FAQs for Sponsors How can my business sponsor Safety Week? Sponsorship puts your name in front of workers and employers statewide and backs safer worksites across Alaska. Sponsorship levels and benefits are coming soon. In the meantime, email naomi@alaskasafetyalliance.org to talk about sponsoring. How does payment work? Sponsors make a pledge and ASA sends an invoice. No card payment is taken online. Can individuals give? Yes. Supporters at any amount are welcome, and can be recognized by name or remain anonymous.
